Journals Can Be Historical

Reminders. Investigative when wondering where something started with questions of why answered. Familial. Genealogical. Journaling produces many benefits just by writing a little here and there. Artwork can be included or itself be the journal that tells a story.

I found two examples from my own, long forgotten notebook I recently found.

"10/2/08 I took Kimber to boxing class tonight"

Broken down you can see an event, but you find that "Kimber" learned boxing which also dates the era.

"While there I went into the sanctuary to pray."

You can now tell, the place of Kimbers boxing was a church and that the person writing this (me) prayed.

"At first I walked back and forth toward the back praying for Bishop Bolins preaching to be clearer and purer than ever."

This gives insight into who the pastor might've been and somewhat the heart of the one praying. For the rest, you take time to gather and break down information.

"I also prayed for the attitude to be changed to Repentance. I then knelt and prayed for Tammy, Zachary, Kimber & Jordan as well as Zachary's knee to be healed. I prayed for the salvation of my family and for God's anointing and direction in my own life. I prayed for Prophetess Theresa, Alma & Apostle Davis as well as for me, Leonard & the VOC Directors for the Prayer revival this month. After praying & weeping during that time I went out and was walking in the hall @ the nursery's. One of the cleaning ladies was there, she stopped me and asked me a couple questions then said--"Oh yeah, God said He heard your prayers and the answer is on the way--Don't give up". I raised my hand and cried all the way to the car.'" end of entry.

A reason to know the author may be who is the writer, the one praying, the ones prayed for? It was a father praying to his Heavenly Father for his sons and daughters, for his (then) pastor and others he was in ministry with. It is also a record of a prophesy given to offer hope.

What's investigative? Around this time is when all hell broke lose in this man's life. It was also around this time I began being more vocal about the necessity of Repentance in the life of believers in Jesus Christ, and not only of non-believers. Journals give life back, encouragement and hope.

Sometimes your prayers being answered may look like they aren't, but God works all things together, and only He is able... To do THAT.

I was absent of experience but not of responsibility. I found these words just above what I just shared. "1Sam 17:9 'Give me a man that we may fight together' & a child came forth.

(This was the story of Goliath and shepherd boy David)

His brother said--'I know your pride'... because David was not in the "status quo" but moved WITH God--Outside the box.

Inexperienced in war but not in responsibility fought experience and greatness who followed "status quo" and brought victory to the nation of God."

I hope you have been encouraged. Go forward in obedience, repentance, grace and faith in Jesus Christ and Him crucified... Yet resurrected. Die to live... Again.

This post has been long and a little more thought provoking, so will share the other entry I found in the very near future.
