Ing V ant
Good day to you all! It has been an amazing season of the year. I am not a Jewish scholar by any means but I can understand "the days of AWE"...the time of "repenting". A time of year to acknowledge secret, hidden and obvious sin..to the God of Israel. Even as I type, I feel the Lord is giving more insight. "Ing" is a suffix which goes after a word. Wikipedia says, "-ing is a suffix used to make one of the inflected forms of English verbs". So Repent...ing is the verb...the doing or acting on repent. Ant after a word differs. Oxford Lexico says, "These endings are used to form nouns (such as deodorant or adolescent) or adjectives (such as arrogant and convenient). Similar rules apply to these words as to words ending in -ance and -ence, or -ancy and -ency". For these purposes...repent...ance or repent---ant.
So one is the doing, the other is the being.
Why do I bring that up? Because, while the verb is very important in doing it, by confessing or the act of repenting is necessary, the noun of repentant or repentance is the depth and substance of the verb. In other words, repenting may and should come from being...and/or becoming...repentant. We become what we do, if we do it often enough.
In THIS time of AWE, we should be repenting, but also ask for the creation of the Being of Repentant and speaking of repentance. Remember speaking is the verb.
If we wanted to join this to a known act. An ANT...is not known only because of its being, but of its doing...pretty much on a continuous action. If they are dormant and you disturb the nest...the noun becomes the verb, but they act together within. Proverbs 6:6-11 in the Complete Jewish Bible says,
"6 Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!
7 It has no commander, no overseer or ruler,
8 yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest.
9 How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep?
10 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest—
11 and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man".
Why is it wise? Because its being and doing reveal somethings. They are ready to be & do the task at hand. It not only gathers its food at harvest, but it doesn't need a commander, overseer or ruler. This passage of the Word of God has been used for many things, but this. The "ant" is not lazy but from it we can learn wisdom. The wisdom of being and doing with...or without a "leader", yet knowing the task of protecting the Kingdom. Because it is an "ant" as a noun, it can also do the work of an "ant" at the end.
Yes, the colony or community may have one or more "queens" but the young, the unhatched/unborn are protected. WE have a King. His name is Jesus Christ and in Him and before WE...WILL bow, regardless of soothesayers or His enemies who say otherwise. The Word of God (that's Jesus) says in Revelation 1:7 in the Complete Jewish Bible, "7“Look, he is coming with the clouds,”and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.”So shall it be! Amen". That is emphatic and certain.
The question before us is...after we finish repenting will be remain repentant, and speak of repentance.
Love is the answer, Repentance is the call.
