Getting to Know Yourself
Identity can be defining to a person whether or not they have a relationship with Jesus Christ. So what is so big about the difference--if there is one? One of the best things anyone can do is find out who THEY ARE. In the world of "Christianity" that means "by the Spirit". In the world of "believers" that means "by the Spirit" mixed with why did God send me from heaven to earth and for what purpose. In the world of a "non-christian" or even an "unbeliever" it usually means what is my greatest trait and how can I use it to serve myself, my friends and my community or world. To be honest the characteristics of the previous statement is as much a part of the other two as it is of itself. If that statement causes you to get upset or offended and you are a Christian or believer then you should recognize a part of getting to know yourself. If you said, "good point, yea let em have it" and you are a non-christian or unbeliever then it should show you a part of yourself as well.
The Bible says, he who says there is no God is a fool. "Oh, there you go quoting the bible already!" Well of course. Maybe your "Bible" says he who says there is a god is a fool. What's the point? We both have a version of our system of beliefs and/or writings we may call "Bible". What the difference? Both include men and women and circumstances of life. Both include how things were handled or not handled. Both have an outcome of either good or bad and would of necessity make mention of God/god in an idolatrous or relational manner. Some say there have been many "messiahs" and many men have either been raised from the dead or maybe raised themself from the dead. There may even be some truth to those stories--"some" "truth". However, only one is returning and only one was able to open the seals in the book of Revelation--in the Bible used by Believers and Christians. He Knows Himself. He said, there is no God like me, I know of none. He said I use nations to judge others nations and those called by My name. He Knows Himself. He said, I formed you in your mother's womb, you are intricately and wonderfully made, making men/women in His image. He Knows Himself. So what better and more sure way to "get to know yourself" than ask Him. What is a trait you have, a gift, a desire YOU have? Is it opposed to God or does it line up with Him and His ways? Is it something you possibly don't understand yet but need to pursue--or want to? If you go to a farmer, you don't go ask the earth what the farmer planted--you ask the farmer what HE planted. He is the best one to ask and get the sure answer and He is the best one to nurture it because He knows what each one has need of. He Knows Himself.
God wants you to seek Him during this time. He wants to show you----YOU and He wants to develop that "thing" He planted. He wants to nurture it. He uses teachers, circumstance (hard and difficult), loneliness, separation from others and He uses each other He sends to prop you/me up and/or to walk with us--for a short time, a longer time or a life time. It is all up to Him. Will you trust Him? It is not a matter of if you "can" trust Him but rather a matter of if you "will". Here's a tongue twister, Will you will your will to want His will and weather the wondering and wanderings of His will overtaking your will? Will you get to know yourself? No one can really "tell" you because it is a relationship with the farmer, the Creator, the only wise God. He does have a name. His name is Jesus and He is the Messiah, the Redeemer and restorer of men's souls. Ask the Father, who am I to You? Write it down and then begin to see--your desires, your direction, your traits and how He may want to use them in how He created you to be in getting to know yourself. Outside of Jesus, you are natural but in Him you have the ability to become truly super-natural and that only because of Him. God bless you.
